What do we do when God interrupts our lives? Many times, like Jonah, we run! In this 7-session Bible study, Priscilla redefines interruption and shows that interruption is actually God’s invitation to do something beyond our wildest dreams. When Jonah was willing to allow God to interrupt his life, the result was revival in an entire city.

Our women’s ministry will begin this study next Wednesday, March 2, at 6:00 in the Sunday School Office. No one will ever argue the point that our city needs revival. Please come be a part of this study and let’s seek God for our city.

Paul’s Letter to the Romans

We have been in a study for the past few weeks on Paul’s letter to the Romans. It’s been a difficult study and there will be difficult passages to come. But this Sunday we are starting chapter 5. It’s going to be exciting as we seek to understand what we have because Christ’s righteousness has been imputed to us. It’s amazing that we were lost in our sins, but while we were helpless, Christ gave us hope. Don’t miss this Sunday as we take a look at God’s amazing grace!!!

Choose how you will be involved in this Acts 1:8 project in reaching our community with the Gospel.

September 12-15: Revival Services with Sammy Nuckols. Sammy is a man that is uniquely gifted by God to reach to all age groups. Don’t miss this week of great preaching and let’s let God continue to do great things in our church!!

September 18: Beth Moor Simulcast. God has used Beth Moore in ways to reach women around this world that are unheard of. God’s hand of blessing is on her life so mightily that ladies cannot help but be changed through this event. Men of Central, this is our turn to serve. We need every man to be a part of this event to serve our ladies.

September 18: “Uprising.” This is a state wide youth event that will be held at Magic Springs. Students don’t miss this day. It will be so much fun. They will a special guest on stage that day that you will all recognize!!

September 27-29: Sr. Adults to Branson!! This is an annual trip that our Sr.s look so forward to. It’s going to be so much fun. I’m signed up to go and I’m really looking forward to going with these great folks. We are going to have a blast and I’m going to learn so much about life from men and women that have walked the path that I’m walking!

A New Day!!

We are so excited to have Matt, Julie, Maggie, and Izzie Rothacher coming this weekend!!! This Sunday will be our first Sunday with Matt here as our Pastor of Youth and Recreation. I pray that you will support Matt and pray for him and his family as they make this transition!!

Sunday night we will have a party after Family Time to welcome the Rothacher Family to our family. We are looking forward to seeing students saved, families made stronger, and the Kingdom grown through our future ministry together. Everybody bring your favorite dish and let’s have a great time celebrating a new day in the LIFE of Central.

This coming Sunday we will be looking at critical part of The Sermon on the Mount. This past Sunday we looked at storing up treasures in heaven and when we do that, it leads to this week’s topic. Jesus commands us not to worry and that’s easy if we are busy storing up treasures in heaven rather than storing stuff here and trying to keep up with it!!!!!

The Sermon on the Mount

We are still working our way through The Sermon on the Mount. I have heard scholars say that this is actually a series of sermons that Jesus preached and then when Matthew’s Gospel was penned, the messages were compiled into one message. I disagree with that. I truly believe, just like the Word says, “he went up on a mountain side and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them, saying…”

As we seek to capture the Mind of Christ by studying the Sermon on the Mount, what is the Lord saying to us? Where are we headed as a church? Are we headed down the road marked, “Let’s just keep going the way we’re going and hope folks come along?” or are we going to march down the road marked, “Their are people facing a Christ-less eternity unless I do something about it?” I hope we are ready to make whatever changes that are necessary so that we might see people brought into the Kingdom!! In so saying, be ready church! We are about to get going! I hope that this summer will change your life forever!!!! We are going to make a difference in the Kingdom this Summer! How will you be involved?

House Cleanin!!!!

This Sunday is Easter Sunday. We are going to have guests in our house all day long!! They are very special to us! What do you do when you have special guests coming to see you? You clean up! So this Saturday bring you work gloves, your garbage bags, leaf rakes, tractors, bulldozers, wrecking balls, or whatever you got and lets get this house and yard cleaned so that our guests can feel comfortable when they come worship with us. Meet me here at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning and let’s get this done!!!!!!

Exciting Times

You are probably aware by now that we are experiencing some very exciting
times in the life of Central Baptist Church. We are just about out of
parking space and worship space on Sunday mornings. Those are great problems
to have. But, we have to do something to relieve theses problems. So, our
Sunday morning schedule is changing beginning March 7th. The new schedule
will include an 8:00 worship service, 9:30 Sunday School and 10:45 worship
service.

I want you to know that the 8:00 AM worship service will continue to be very
similar to what has been taking place each Sunday morning. The “new” 10:45
AM service will be a little bit more on the contemporary side which means
that the service will look and sound a little different. There will be no
choir at 10:45. Instead, we will use a vocal team along with our
instrumentalists to lead in worship.

This schedule change will take an adjustment period and some of you may be
asked to step up and serve in ways that you are not accustomed to. But, I am
certain that God will be pleased with all the efforts we put forth.

We particularly desire to have a strong choir for the 8:00 AM service.
Please pray about making a commitment to the choir. We will continue to have
choir rehearsal on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm. We will also meet at 7:30
AM each Sunday morning beginning on March 7th to warm-up and prepare for the
8:00 AM worship service.

As we move to this new schedule, we are also excited about some other
changes in how we do things at Central. Beginning March 7th we will have a
new welcome center located in the lobby of the EAB. We will need more
greeters, ushers, musicians, tech people, and hospitality folks serving on
Sunday mornings. We will share more about these ministries during Family
Time this Sunday evening at 5:00 along with some training for these areas of
ministry.

“It’s Your mercy Lord that leads us to repentence”

It’s amazing what can happen when a church seeks Godliness. There is a community that needs the Lord and is truly seeking hope that only Jesus can offer. The only way they can receive that hope is when the church begins with repentance, then seeks the Lord, and then seeks to reach the lost world!!

Now that we have discovered the characteristics of a believer (The Beattitiudes), then learned how we relate to the world as believers (being salt and light), we then understand that we live under grace and not the law. The first place we must exercise that grace is with one another in the church. We then learn that we live those characteristics in our marriage and in our own hearts.

Be at Central this Sunday as we look at Marriage and Romance! It’s going to be a great Sunday! Homework: Read Matthew 5:27-32 as we discuss further the fact that Christianity is a heart issue.

New Days!

God is doing some amazing things. People are coming and people are giving their lives to Christ. God’s work just doesn’t get more exciting! We are on the edge of being overly crowded in worship. As exciting as that is, we must realize there are more people to reach! So get ready to see what God is going to do!!!

This Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday! All of our Sunday School classes are encouraged to have parties. Bro. Billy has worked hard in making it a fun outreach time. Invite, encourage, and enroll people in your class!!! Watch our Sunday School grow through fun events like this one!

Childcare will be provided at the church. As your pastor, I want to offer this ministry to you. If at all possible I would like for our children’s workers to be involved with the adults at their parties. So I will be here playing with the kids and I would love some help!! If you are interested in helping with childcare and ministering to them, please call the church office and come play with the kids and me!!!! I’m really excited about this opportunity to play with our kids as I am their pastor, too!!!! But, please, someone come play with us!! We will start at 4:30 in the EAB.

What a wonderful day in the life of Central Baptist Church!!
We had 178 in Sunday School!
We had 306 in Worship!
Our parking lot was packed!
The real exciting thing is that we had two join:
1) Michael joined by promise of letter
2) Sydney made her profession of faith public and will be baptized this Sunday!
God is so good!!

Bless the Lord and boo hoo at the same time! Bro. Brad and Paige announced that they have accepted a position as Student Pastor at First Baptist Church of Batesville, AR. It makes us sad, but we know that they are following God’s plan for their lives. Bless you Brad, Paige, and little one! We will miss you!!!
