"We seek to equip and build up others to follow Christ"

Dr. Jordan Ferris
Senior Pastor

Jordan came to pastor Central Baptist in August of 2016. He is a Pine Bluff native, and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 2000. He attended college at Henderson State University where he met his wife; Amanda; and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in 2005. Jordan’s early ministry years were spent in youth ministry where he served in churches in Malvern, Woodlawn, and Sherwood, AR. Jordan felt God call him onto seminary, so he enrolled in Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, and started on his Master’s degree. He graduated in 2010 with his Masters of Arts in Religious Studies with an emphasis in Bible Study. He then graduated the following year with his Masters of Divinity in Pastoral Ministries.

It was during this time that Jordan felt God calling him to military chaplaincy. He was commissioned in July of 2010 as an Ensign in the United States Navy Chaplain Candidate Program. After completion of ODS and Chaplain School he was advanced to the rank of LTjg, and assigned to a Navy Seabee Battalion as their command chaplain.

Soon after, Jordan was promoted to LT, and found received orders to deploy to Afghanistan in 2013. It was during this time that his wife and him found out that they were expecting their first child; Daniel. They welcomed Daniel that summer, and Jordan then deployed for 8 months.

When he returned he took a job teaching at Ridgway Christian High School teaching Bible as well as computer science to grades 7th-12th. While there he led worship in the chapel services as well as started speaking in churches throughout the southeast area of Arkansas as well as speaking at various events at prisons, veterans events, and etc.

In 2016 Jordan accepted the call to Central Baptist in White Hall as Senior Pastor. He still serves as a Navy Reserve Chaplain as a Lieutenant Commander. In May 2020, Jordan earned his Doctorate of Ministry in Expository Preaching from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He spends his time outside the church with his beautiful family. He is an avid runner and athlete. He loves to hunt, fish, and cycle. He also loves to sing, and play the guitar.

Cy Cheney joined the staff of Central in the fall of 2017. He has been in student ministry for over 15 years, and has a passion for students to know and grow in Christ. He is married to his wife of 15 years, Jessica, and has four children; Aubrey, Ethan, Mason, and Colton.

Cy enjoys movies, duck hunting, and spending time with his family.

Student and Education Pastor

"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

                                             -Ephesians  3:20-21; ESV

For the last seven decades Central has been located in the Pine Bluff/Dollarway/White Hall area. We are a community of believers called out by God to carry out the great commission in our community, state, nation, and around the world. We strive to equip the local body of Christ to deepen their relationship with Him, and to reach others to follow Him.

We are a Southern Baptist congregation belonging to the Harmony Baptist Association, and support the North American Mission Board in their various mission endeavors.

Student Ministry

The Student ministry here at Central always has something going on. The Students have weekly Bible studies that engage them on topics that are relevant to where they are in life.

The student ministry has a year full of activities that includes Super Summer, Mission trips, eating out, trips to the trampoline park, and etc.

More than anything it is our heart's desire that the students come to know Christ as their personal Savior, and that they develop their relationship with Him on a daily basis.
